The Stranglers headlining at Wyeside this Saturday...The Stranglers will be at the Wyeside Music Festival on Saturday, 21st August. The festival site is located on the Sutton St Nicholas/Shelwick Road approximately 1½ miles
outside Hereford near Wergins Bridge. On approaching Hereford on the A4103 from Worcester you will come to a roundabout and will need to turn right and head for Sutton St Nicholas. The festival will be signposted. With The Stranglers headlining and 50 plus bands playing over the two days (Fri/Sat) it should be a great family event. The Stranglers head east...then west, then north...!The Stranglers will be visiting 3 countries in 4 days from Thursday, as they continue to enhance the musical experience of festival-goers...! The reception they have been receiving has been fantastic and much deserved I may add...! Pity about no BBC footage of Glastonbury though...They head east to Slovakia for the first time to perform at the Pohoda Festival on Thursday night, then it's back west to Dublin (Oxegen Festival) on Saturday and up to Kinross-shire, Scotland for Sunday's 'T in the Park' Festival...The stage times are scheduled as follows:
Pohoda Festival: 22.45-23.45
Oxegen Festival: 14.00-14.45
T in the Park: 12.30-13.20

Baz solo gigs..."with Neil and Steve and Bob"...!Baz has two shows this weekend, up in Largs on the west coast of Scotland...where he will be doing something he's not done for a while...a 'Neil Young Songbook'.
Baz has long been a fan of Neil Young and this is his 'nod of appreciation' for the Canadian's music. Baz will be joined by his friend and fellow musician, Steve Daggett (ex-Lindisfarne singer), who, incidently, will be doing a 'Bob Dylan Songbook'.
They will also be hooking up with each other to do a fair few songs together...
Should be a blast...!!!

Busy weekend for Baz and The Stranglers...The Stranglers will be making a brief appearance at the Black Swan Arts Centre in Frome around midday today. This is to promote a musical project based on a work of art by Ralph Steadman - the Blot Symphony. As fans of Ralph’s satirical drawings, the band have agreed to join in this exciting musical project taking place on July 16th. They will be on the judging panel...more details here: blackswan.org.uk... After there visit to the arts centre Baz and the band will be readying themselves for their pre-Glastonbury gig in Frome later that night...Then Friday will see The Stranglers' first-ever appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. They're scheduled to start at 1.40pm and should do an hour-long set...after which they'll have little time to relax as they're flying out to Poland to headline the Easy Rider Party Festival in Krakow...interesting times, as always! Also, they are to be interviewed by Tom Robinson at Glastonbury and this should be broadcast during Tom's evening radio show on BBC6 Music, which is aired between 6.00-8.00pm on Friday. Baz solo gigs in July...and Stormin' the Castle in Sept...Baz has confirmed two solo gigs in Largs, Scotland, at the Victoria hotel on Fri., 2nd and Sat., 3rd July. And he will be doing something he's not done for a while...

Baz and The Futureheads meet up...Baz has been invited to participate in a 'music project' for the BBC...at this stage all I can say is that his involvement is based around the vibrant and productive music scene in his native North East, he himself being a prime example! Also, as part of his contribution to the 'project' he has just finished interviewing one of the bands currently making a big impact on the circuit...The Futureheads. More news will follow, but meantime check out the photograph of Baz and the band on page 8 of the gallery...!

Re-scheduled Stranglers gig...sabotage leads to festival cancellation...The Stranglers' appearance at the Wyeside Music Festival in Hereford (June 19th) has been postponed until August 21st...Due to a devious act of sabotage near the venue, this years festival has been cancelled. The Stranglers have agreed to help them in their time of need and will play at the re-scheduled one-day event set later in the year on Sat. 21st August...

Gig news updates...including gig at the 'Triumph Live' event to celebrate Triumph's 20th anniversary...Robot Elvis's gig at Largs on Sunday 9th May has now been cancelled...also Baz's 3 solo gigs in Largs set for early June have been cancelled too...
The Stranglers gig in Burgas, Bulgaria in August has had to be pulled too...apologies to all for these changes and any inconveniences caused...
But...The Stranglers have been invited to headline Triumph Motorcycles 20th anniversary celebrations in September. A day of racing, stunts, free factory tour and live music, headlined by The Stranglers...sounds like a top day out...! Tickets are available now.

The Stranglers to play in Munster (Germany) in May...The Stranglers will be appearing at 'EuroCityFest 2010' which takes place in the German city of Munster between 14-16th May.
The Stranglers are on stage at 10.30pm (local time) on Sat. 15th in the town centre...This festival is a city-centre open-air event that attracts 20,000+ spectators per night. I'm assuming that it's a free event for all but I'll post up any further details as and when they become available...

A decade together...!Congratulations Baz...and a huge 'Thank You' (from us all!)...for your contribution to The Stranglers during the last decade...and for what's to come next, for as we know, the band have a very busy summer ahead and beyond...!
Yeah, 10 years...didn't that go quick? But filled with the most memorable gigs and two of the finest albums for, well, for decades...'Norfolk Coast' and 'Suite XVI' not only fulfilling every Stranglers' fans expectations but massively impressing the music industry moguls too - a rarity indeed, critical and commercial acclaim all at once...! Not that we care too much for what the 'media' might say...!
Plus there's the two latest tracks (see 'Downloads' below) which indicate the band's appetite is undiminished and there are other songs written at the same time that we hope will get released some time soon...!
Anyway, the band are in as much demand as ever and more...! The recent UK tour saw a tremendous turn-out as fans, old and new (and younger!) proved that The Stranglers are a 'must see' band with plenty still to say...and, though Baz would be more humble, I'm gonna say that it's due in no small part to him and his input that has maintained the band right up there at the top of tree...thanks guys, thanks Baz...Viva The Stranglers...!!!

The Stranglers - Europe, Japan, Europe...'Glasto' tickets?The Stranglers now follow up there extensive UK tour with a series of European gigs either side of a trek to Japan...Baz will celebrating his birthday in Paris as The Stranglers arrive in France for their next gig on March 25th...ain't that nice! (Happy Birthday too...!). It's a short stay though as the band have a gig the following night across in Belgium at Leuven, the home of Stella Artois, which surely must be sampled whilst there? It would be rude not to...! Then it's a 12,000 mile round-trip to Japan for 3-gig stint on the island, a place where they have always been greatly appreciated. Back nearer home in June and beyond sees a few 'firsts' for The Stranglers as they will be playing at Glastonbury in June and Bulgaria in August...!! Before they hit the golden sands of the Black Sea (Bulgaria) for one of the hottest European festivals on the circuit they will be showing the Glastonbury crowds precisely what they have been missing out on over the years 'down home on the farm' in Somerset...Although this festival notoriously sells out way in advance there is some possible good news for Stranglers' fans as Glastonbury's official website has now announced that the re-sale of cancelled tickets for this year's Festival will take place at 9am on Sunday, 11th April 2010. Tickets will be sold online at www.seetickets.com/g2010 and via the 'Seetickets' booking line 0844 412 4635. The numbers are limited and expected to sell out quickly. As they state: 'In order to purchase tickets in the re-sale, you must be successfully registered by Wednesday, March 31st. Register online at www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk. For more information about ticket sales and registration, please visit our ticket information page.'
So you may still have the opportunity to see The Stranglers at 'Glasto'...
Incidentally, U2 have the dubious honour of closing the night's show after The Stranglers...poor guys, having to follow The MenInBlack...!!!

The Stranglers UK tour kicks-off in Glasgow...The Stranglers opened their UK tour in Glasgow last night and went down a storm with the customary 'enthusiastic' Scottish crowd...! No climbing off balconies this time but a nubile lady tantalised us all during 'Nice 'n' Sleazy', ("we didn't have an idea of the the kind of woman waiting..." -
Baz), but modesty prevented her from going 'over the top'...as her top remained firmly in place...! Ah, well...!
A few tracks that haven't been aired for a while were incorporated into the set, including an 'old classic'...but I'll let you discover these for yourselves when you go to a gig...! Wouldn't wanna spoil your party...!
Incidentally, the Hammersmith gig will be filmed for DVD release and you can pre-order your copy NOW - by doing so you will receive a bonus CD of the concert, this is a limited edition offer - so hurry up and order...! More details:

Festival gig...The Stranglers are set to appear at the 'Daphne du Maurier' festival which takes place in Fowey in Cornwall on 21st May. The festival features both the arts and literature and is a celebration of the famous author Daphne du Maurier. More details to follow...

Well, another top year has flown by but it's ending on a another high with the news of the brand new Stranglers single set for release in February 2010...as all the fireworks and rockets shoot into the midnight sky later on I'm wishing that the new single "Retro Rockets" goes interstellar next year to launch The Stranglers into their 5th decade...!!! Thank you all for flicking through these webpages throughout the year and Baz and myself (Geoff) wish you ALL THE VERY BEST FOR 2010 and we hope to see you on the road along the way...CHEERS TO YOU ALL...!!!

The Stranglers: Greece & Japan gigs...The Stranglers will be playing 3 gigs in Greece in January before they commence on their major UK Tour. And following on from the France/Belgium gigs in late March they head east for 3 further shows in Japan a week later...
More good news - coupled with the touring The Stranglers will be releasing a brand new single to accompany EMI's album compilation release 'Decades Apart' (22nd Feb). This new single will be the first time the band has put out a 'download' only single, gotta keep up with the times eh? So, a great start to 2010 for the band and all of us...!

The Stranglers: Preston - 13th August 2009...53 degrees and rising...!!The Stranglers head off for the festival in Holland , tomorrow (15th) after last night's rousing, not to say 'titillating' show...the set-list kicked-off with a crowd-pleasing classic - 'Time to Die' - and 'North Winds' made a timely reappearance, with all the trouble and strife going on out there...Dave gave Baz and JJ a vocal break with another timeless gem, 'Genetix' and they roared through 'Sometimes', 'Lost Control', 'Black and White', 'Straighten Out', 'The Raven' and much more including the more contemporary 'Unbroken', 'I Hate You' and 'Spectre of Love' - the latter songs attracting huge audience participation with a Stranglers-sing-along-out-of-tune accompaniment...!! A majestic show preceded by the raunchy 'The Riot Girls Burlesque Show' who certainly fed the fire on the night...nice'n'sleazy...a visual treat, well for the majority of the lecherous crowd...!! An evening of the erotic to the esoteric...typical Stranglers really...!!
